In January 1992, Sharon Easley began her solo practice in Plano, Texas, to give her more flexibility to continue to raise her four children and greater autonomy to develop her own career path. Her mission was to provide efficient, high-quality legal representation to her clients. Several years later, Sharon Easley met Lisa Marquis, who shared her vision and, together, they formed Easley & Marquis, to further that mission in family law.

Before forming Easley & Marquis in 1997, Sharon Easley and Lisa Marquis had both practiced in large law firms. They brought their experiences to Easley & Marquis and they have grown the firm to a team of five female attorneys and six female staff members. Over the years, the firm has expanded its areas of practice to include guardianship, probate, small estate planning, wills and trusts.

In 2008, the firm added criminal law representation when Casey Easley Davis, daughter of founding partner, Sharon Easley, left her position as a prosecutor with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office to join the firm. Kelly Hurt came directly to the firm in 2004 upon graduation from Texas Tech Law School. Kelly became a Partner in the firm in 2009.

The women of this firm have historically come together to effectively and passionately fight for the client’s best interest. When children are involved, the Easley & Marquis team has a long standing history of ensuring that the best interests of these children are put first.

Wayne Lewis, founder of Andrew Merrick Homes, began his career as an Intelligence Specialist in The United States Marine Corps from 1991-1994. The experience would eventually prove to be the catalyst for the discipline, organization, and the commitment to excellence that The Andrew Merrick Companies (Andrew Merrick Homes) now holds to be paramount in its mission to build the finest homes and commercial structures possible!

Wayne Lewis’s entrepreneurial spirit could not be denied, as he created his first company, Lewz Construction in 1994, building homes on the North Carolina coast, and remodeling homes and buildings destroyed by three years of devastating hurricanes in that area.

From that point on, building dream homes for deserving families was in Wayne’s blood. He then moved to Texas where he took on a position with a large volume custom home builder in Dallas, Texas. Wayne Lewis’s first position there was in the Quality Control Department. This began his quest to know everything possible about building the very best homes possible! Mr. Lewis quickly moved up the ladder within the organization, setting building and construction standards, still unmatched to this day. From February 1999 through October 2004 his projects spread from the McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen areas, all the way South to the surrounding Fort Worth metroplex. These included such coveted Master-planned communities as Stonebridge Ranch, Lone Star Ranch, and other prestigious Northern communities.

To add to his already impressive resume, Wayne Lewis also served as Vice President of Operations for one of the largest high-end custom homebuilders in Dallas, building custom homes throughout the DFW metroplex valued up to $10 million.

Andrew Merrick Homes, LLC was formed in April of 2006, by its’ Managing Member, Wayne Lewis. This was the true beginning of what you see today in our incomparable homes University Park and Highland Park.

The notion of generational equity or the privatization of the social security system could have a profound impact on corporations and their approach to employee benefits. Though I’ve posted both proponet views and advocate views flat out labeled, <a href=http://www.thinkwriteconnect.com/generational-equity-benefits-of-privatizing-social-security/">“Generational Equity Scam”, I think it is important take a non-biased look at the complications that the notion of generational equity could present for US businesses of all size.

Here is my top list for consideration:

Benefits are at risk. With workers contributing to IRAs, retirement benefits could be reduced as much as 30 percent.

Creating private accounts would make Social Security’s financing problem worse. The rates of what is needed versus what will be available with time considerations for social security would mean that the private sector would have to lend to the government almost immediately in order to be able to fund retirees. These pressures would be added to a corporate financing climate that is already cash strapped.

Administrative costs will increase. With the increase of administrative costs, the outstanding sums would have to be paid for somehow. This could lead to the reduction of benefits, retirement age raise or the increase of the payroll tax. That last one is key to corporations as increased payroll taxes almost instantaneously equates to a reduction in work force.

Survivors and those with disabilities are at risk. Privatization proposals do not take them into consideration. Their benefits are either cut drastically or there is no plan to raise the additional funds needed to keep up their benefits. For corporations that currently provide survivor benefits, their entire compensation packages could be impacted as these types of plans almost disappear from affordability.

Leaning on corporate america is not a smart approach for America at this time in our economy and the future of our country. We need to solve for our social security problem. . .not pawn it off to the private sector.
